OH THAT'S CHELSEY

Thoughts on Homeschooling as a Full Time Farmer

They said “but when will you teach them?” and she said “I’m not sure what you mean, we’re always learning.”

I ordered 6 little chairs and made a beautiful table thinking we would all sit around it while we practiced writing.

Typing this out, I’m even wondering why I ever thought we’d do that. 😂

We’re rarely home.

We’ve never waited for a pretty table and no distractions to learn.

We’ve learned as we go.

We pack a notebook and colored pencil along to write as we check pastures.

We sing and count as we work fields.

We solve problems and learn new concepts as we combine.

I always believed learning didn’t need a classroom, but now after reliving it as a teacher rather than a student I really feel it.

We never did official preschool but in between working cows and tending crops we had a plethora of cutting practice, the alphabet can be written, counting to 100 happens often, and reproductive understanding is definitely beyond what’s in the usual curriculum. 😉

Our time to decide on homeschool or a great local public school for kindergarten is ticking, but I’m probably 90/10 decided now.

Anyone else in the deciding on school before this fall boat right now?
