This started with intentionality.
I didn’t want them to only hear no and
1. In an emergency not feel empowered to act.
2. Didn’t want them to have to overcome the mental mountain of turning a no into a yes.
Now that some of them are old enough to understand we go over what to do in an emergency — how to shut it off and how to help someone. But we started here. Buttons, levers, steering wheels are all for the driver.
