OH THAT'S CHELSEY

How a Farmer Deals with a Cash Flow Desert

We’ve entered the cash flow desert.

All my old crop corn is sold and hauled in.

It will now be soybean harvest, September, before I generate any income from the farm.

Many of our expenses are paid for the coming growing season, but we’ll still have a fertilizer bill to finish, some chemical, seed treatment, repairs, and land rent.

Occasionally, I’ve kept corn into the summer, but this year it worked better to haul it in. Price wise, not so much 🙃 I’m in the camp that isn’t as proud of my last sell price as my others. Rebought on paper and trying to make some money back. 🙏🏼

But then again, money in the bank is interest not being paid so 🤷🏼‍♀️💃🏼

Are you in a cash flow desert too?!
